Kayakers swear that they never let go of the paddle even if their vessel capsizes.

Every Lahnakoski kayak paddle is a thing of beauty, a unique Finnish design product combining the appropriate material with a functional shape and an optimum weight distribution. Our paddles are flexible and roll with the movement, making the going smooth and also easy on the kayaker’s muscles and joints. Wooden paddles are best for long voyages; the organic material has a pleasant and warm feel to it, and even a firm grip will not result in blisters. Composite, by comparison, is a durable and affordable material for demanding use.

Greenland Expedition

Category: KAYAK PADDLES
Product number: 132

A strong and warm Greenland expedition paddle made of beautiful aspen and alder. Lahnakoski’s tailor-made alternative for extreme conditions. The paddle is based on the Lahnakoski Greenland model which has been further developed together with the Greenland expedition team Igalaaq and their Norwegian paddling specialist Mr. Sigurd Schultz. The form and the stiffer shaft guarantee safe paddling in tough conditions with ice, rocks and rough waters. The design respects the traditions of the Inuits in Greenland with white epoxy dipped tips harkening back to the original bones tips used in the past. The paddle has been tested in extreme conditions in Greenland and was found excellent. Oiled surface. Designed in co-operation with the Igalaaq expedition team, made by carpenter Mr. Frank Sandström.

“A real powerful tool! The added swing weight of the expedition paddle took a while to get used to, but over the time I became accustomed to it and appreciated the solid feel of reliability it gave me. I could feel the strength this paddle was designed for, and could imagine paddling with it in the icy waters of Greenland for many miles…”  comment by Mr. Christopher Crowhurst/Qajaq Rolls after testing the paddle in Minnesota. http://qajaqrolls.com/2016/11/fall-fun-with-the-finns.html

Greenland Western Red Cedar

Category: KAYAK PADDLES
Product number: 139

A light and warm Greenland paddle made of beautiful Western Red Cedar ( Thuja plicata ). The slim, symmetric bladed paddle is suitable for strong winds, “rolling” and paddling long distances as the slim design causes less strain on the muscles. The lightest wooden greenland paddle on the market. The tips are reinforced with clear epoxy. Oiled surface. Designed in co-operation with the Finnish paddling instructor Mr. Tatu Hirvonen, made by carpenter Mr. Frank Sandström.

They sculled to the surface as if drawn by invisible hands.” comment by Mr. Christopher Crowhurst/Qajaq Rolls after testing the paddle in Minnesota. http://qajaqrolls.com/2016/11/fall-fun-with-the-finns.html
